Chapter 1

What is limerence?

Limerence is an extremely intense form of infatuation that can develop into emotional obsession. Thoughts, expectations and tiny signals acquire disproportionate importance, while personal wellbeing becomes increasingly tied to the hope of reciprocation. MASQUERADE treats this not as romantic exaggeration, but as an emotional reality with lasting consequences.

Chapter 2

About Limerent Exhaustion

Limerent Exhaustion explores the emotions and conflicts that surround limerence. The project does not focus on one isolated moment, but on change, contradiction and the attempt to understand one's own perceptions again.

  • Inner PrisonInner fallacies and the power of mixed signals.
  • DeliverancePossible ways out of limerence and back towards personal agency.
  • MASQUERADELife behind emotional masks and their long-term consequences.
Chapter 3

The idea behind MASQUERADE

Years of unresolved feelings and the absence of emotional closure form the core of MASQUERADE. The album contrasts the public face with the inner reality: the masks people wear themselves and the idealised images they place on others. Projection, lethargy, repression and escapism shape the story before a return to the self becomes possible. MASQUERADE is deliberately constructed as a concept album: every song stands on its own, but the intended sequence reveals the complete emotional arc.

Music

The energy of the 2000s, reimagined

Limerent Exhaustion draws especially on rock and alternative movements of the 2000s and combines them with contemporary heaviness and electronic accents. Alternative rock, nu metal, pop punk, emo, electro punk, rap rock, ska and hardcore influences, metalcore and gothic elements shift throughout the album without losing the connected narrative.

Creation

Human idea. AI-assisted realisation.

The concept, lyrics, ideas, dramaturgy and musical vision originate with the artist. Suno, predominantly version 5.5, was used for the musical realisation. Extensive prompting, metaprompting, selection and refinement guided every piece in the intended direction; according to the artist, individual songs involved many late-night hours of fine-tuning. AI is the tool of a clear human idea here, not its replacement.

Track by Track

Twelve chapters, one story

The sequence is part of the concept. Track 10 forms the emotional finale; STYX and SPEAK NO EVIL then open an epilogue in which not every longing simply disappears.

Track 01

MASQUERADE

Alternative Rock / Nu Metal

The title track opens the story with the album's central question: who remains when there is no longer a moment in which the mask comes off? It establishes the tension between outward composure and a hidden inner life.

Track 02

SLOWBURN

Melancholic Alternative Rock

A barely noticeable emotional flame slowly grows into a fire that can no longer be ignored. The song shows how quiet thoughts can gradually take over an entire life.

Track 03

ONE IN EIGHT BILLION

Pop Punk

Euphoria and despair collide in the image of a supposedly unique person. Beneath it lies the difficult question of how much of that perfect image is real and how much is projection.

Track 04

SAVIOR

Ska / Hardcore

This dark, melodic track questions the urge to save another person. The desire may also hide a hope that the act of rescuing someone else will provide salvation for oneself.

Track 05

HEARD THIS ONE?

Experimental Metal

Deeply buried feelings become art and suddenly begin to lead a life of their own. As the songs move into the world, their creator remains behind the curtain and wonders who now owns the story.

Track 06

GTFU

Electro Punk

Emotional exhaustion turns into lethargy, making even the smallest task feel impossible. The song's abrasive energy contrasts with a state in which almost no inner movement remains.

Track 07

MOVING

Electric Metalcore

MOVING is the counterweight to GTFU. Constant activity fills every empty moment so that painful thoughts never have the chance to surface.

Track 08

WIDE AWAKE

Pop Punk / Rap Rock

A sleepless night becomes a carousel of what-if questions and unresolved possibilities. Letting go is especially difficult when there was never a clear moment at which everything went wrong.

Track 09

YOUNGER TOGETHER

Emo

The song mourns a shared past that never existed. Emotionally, that imagined history can still feel like a genuine loss and draw its power from precisely that contradiction.

Track 10The emotional finale

FADE INTO NEW

Emocore

The projection is recognised and attention slowly returns to one's own life. Small things regain meaning, and the end of an illusion creates the possibility of meeting oneself again.

Track 11Epilogue

STYX

Melodic Metalcore / Gothic

At the mythological river Styx, emotional growth proves unable to erase every longing. Some images remain even after they have been understood as fantasy.

Track 12Afterword

SPEAK NO EVIL

Dark Alternative

The bonus ending draws on the atmosphere of Christian Tafdrup's 2022 film “Speak No Evil”. It explores false politeness, missing boundaries and the point at which kindness without courage becomes dangerous.
